One Year Together

From the very first time that I met you, I knew there was something special about you. The way you looked, acted, and presented yourself spoke to me. That first night that we went out, you demonstrated your intelligence and told me about the stars and everything that you knew about them.
Knowing that there is a person genuinely laughing at what I'm saying — without any filter — after I had left my entire family and gone through a difficult time in my life gave me hope and reassurance. A week after, I asked you to be my girlfriend. Crazy. I KNOW.
However, after just a week of spending time with you, I knew that I was making the right choice. Looking back, of course it's not usual to ask someone after a week. But you aren't just a "someone" — you are THE one for me. And I knew it then.
I'm sorry if I ever made you mad, if I ever offended you, if I ever made you sad, or if I ever hurt you physically or mentally. I know that sometimes I can be dry or tired, and I might not act as I'd like. I certainly know there are times that I have acted in ways I would not approve of in front of you.
Regardless of that, you never take it to heart. You always keep being nice even though I'm acting terribly. I truly apologize for my actions if they have hurt you in any shape or form.
Please forgive me if you haven't already.
More than you can ever know. You have offered support, affection, care, patience, and so much more. I want to say that I acknowledge all of it, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you for always taking care of me. You always make sure that I'm doing well. You're always worried whenever something happens to me, and you always tell me to text you when I get home. I see it, and I want to thank you for it.
Thank you for cooking for me. I know that you thought you would never want to cook for a man. Despite that, you cook for me all the time and you make sure that I have the best meal of that entire week. You don't know how much it means to me.
Thank you for showing affection. I remember the first few weeks — you came clean and said it was something you were uncomfortable with. But thank you for telling me you love me and how I make you feel. It brings a great amount of joy.
Thank you for not being crazy. I genuinely mean it. You are very intelligent about your feelings and our situation. You stop yourself from being upset, and you don't jump to conclusions. I appreciate you a lot for this.
Thank you for being someone I'm proud to introduce. The way you talk, the way you dress, how you smell, and the way you present yourself in public assure me that when I introduce you to people, they'd like you. I really want to thank you for that.
Thank you for being my best friend. In a time when I left my mom and dad, my friends, and my family — you are the person who talks to me daily. You ask how my day has been. You make sure that I'm mentally ok. I could not ask for my partner to be better in any aspect.
In the past year that I've known you, you have done many interviews, gotten a job, went on your first solo trip, attended one of the hardest classes — all while making time to spend with me. I know that there have been many ups and downs in life, but you have managed it amazingly.
I know that you might get sad sometimes because everything is just so hard. But remember, I can keep my head up and say that I have a hardworking girlfriend with confidence. One of the hardest working people that I know, by far.
I am so happy that I met you. I feel honored to be your partner in life, and I will always try to be there for you no matter what. You are the light in my path of darkness, and I grow more in love with you every day.
